Xenialand-Banner-TripHighlights

In this trip they:

Went on a cycling route along the cost of Huar-Huar

Camped under the stars on a hidden beach

Rafted the renown Futaleufú river and went fly fish in the Futaleufú river and  Yelcho lake

Ate a Patagonian lamb roast prepared by a true Guacho

Visited the home of the eldest tree on Earth, The Alerce Andino National Park

Day 1

They arrived to Santiago and caught a domestic flight to Puerto Montt (1:30hr flight). In Puerto Montt. Guillermo or one of his drivers  waited for them to pick them up & drive them to his house in Frutillar.

That day they wondered around his amazing property and enjoyed a traditional asado for dinner.

Day 2

Woke up to a breakfast of toasts, homemade jam, butter, cheese and seasonal fruit. Coffee taste better with a volcano view. Grabbed a snack and got ready to bike to Frutillar with Guillermo to get to know the charm of this city (8km).  This was a half-day tour and Guillermo took them to his favorite spots and taught them all about the areas history.

After the tour the group had lunch at SeCocina, one of Guillermo's partners and then headed back to the house to rest.

Dinner was  served by Guillermo and Paula, bon apetit!

Day 3

The group slept in and enjoyed the morning and day exploring. Kyle and Max grabbed the bikes and went to Los Bajos, a charming little town close to Frutillar. The landscape there is beautiful and peaceful. They saw all the old german farm and fields that transported them to a tiny piece of Germany.

Lunch was ready at home, and after a rest break, Guillermo took them to Likán, a climber center in Frutillar, and another one of his partners. They explored the lake and took a refreshing swim in the glacial lake before heading back home for another home-cooked dinner.

Day 4

Early in the morning, Guillermo had a transfer ready that took the group to La Paloma airport in Puerto Montt. From there, they flew to Chaitén. There, our host Pancho was waiting for them and drove Kyle and Max to his lodge in Futaleufú,  a 2 hour drive from the airport.

After a well deserved lunch, epic views were waiting for them. Pancho took the group fishing to the Futaleufú river, one of the best spots for fly fishing in the world. Max caught his first rainbow trout on a fly!

Dinner was waiting for them in the lodge, and they enjoyed a nice hot tub under the stars before going to bed!

Day 5

Get ready for a full day of fishing!  Pancho took them  to lake Yelcho. Pristine water surrounded by mountains and three different kinds of trouts were waiting for the crew.

Pancho prepared a traditional disco (a rich seafood plate) for a shore lunch, and them continued fishing for the afternoon.

Another dinner at the lodge, stories from the catches of the day, and the bright stars to cap an end to a fantastic day.

Day 6

Did you know that the Futaleufú river is one of the top 3 whitewater sport rivers in the world? Well, these guys got to experience an epic whitewater rafting day, today.

Pancho took them to the town of Futaleufú and there, his partners picked them up for the rafting. Pancho took the group and had lunch in town and then headed back to the lodge to relax .  When they arrived, they were greeted by Pancho's partner, Don Arsenio, a true gaucho that has lived in this remote area his entire life.  Don Aresenio was roasting a lamb over fire, pure Patagonian style.  They enjoyed this feast with wine, beers, pisco sours, and the best stories by Don Arsenio.

Day 7

After breakfast, Pancho drove Kyle and Max to Chaitén, where they took their plane back to Puerto Montt. Guillermo was waiting for them when they arrived. Guillermo took the group to the market of Angelmó where they found different artesanias, and  had lunch in the city in Puerto Montt.

A quiet night to rest up in Frutillar after traveling back from Futaleufú.

Day 8

Another day open for our explorers as they wished.  However, they started their day with kuchen!  Kuchen is one of the Frutillar's delicacies- a delicious german pie that Guillermo picked up from his favorite spot. After breakfast, they went golfing at Guillermo's partner golf course, Patagonia Virgin with a 25% discount! After that, they had lunch in Frutillar and then spent the afternoon relaxing at Cancagua's hot pools, another one of Guillermo's partners that offer us a discount with the best views of the lake overlooking the volcanos.

Finishing the day with another delicious, home-cooked dinner at Guillermo's.

Day 9

Today our crew went on a full day experience. They biked the Chilean coast and finished camping on the beach. A 35km bike route along the unknown beaches of Huar-Huar. The changing landscape, staring with mountains, and finishing at a hidden beach was magical. Nothing to do besides drink their beverage of choice while Guillermo prepared dinner over the fire.  There was nothing quite like camping under the stars in good company after the long bike ride along the patagonian coast.

Day 10

Woke up with the sounds of the waves and explored this beautiful corner of the Chilean coast. Guillermo prepared a good breakfast by the fire and then it was time to pack and start the journey back towards Frutillar by car.  On the way back they stopped to try some fresh seafood from the area.  After a good rest, that evening Guillermo took them to visit a local brewery in Llanquihue and enjoyed a beer tasting there!

Day 11

Today they left to hike the Alerce Andino National Park, were they saw one of the oldest trees on Earth, the alerce. This was an easy hike, around 10 km aprox., a really  casual stroll. The beauty of this forest is unparalleled.  Guillermo prepared a picnic full of local delicacies and in the afternoon they headed back to Frutillar. Last super, last asado! Amazing meat and sausages from the local butcher, Paula's special pisco sours and smooth chilean wine to cap the trip. Nothing more authentic than a Chilean Asado to end this special trip.

Day 12

Luggage ready, hugs and goodbyes! A transfer was ready to take them to Puerto Montt's airport, from where they flew to Santiago to return home!

"During my two week visit to Chile, we carved out four days to experience Patagonia and the Futaleufú region with Pancho at his lodge and it was incredible.  We spent two days fishing the nearby glacial lakes with Pancho’s expert crew, one day white water rafting the Futaleufú River, and one day relaxing.  The luxury tents at the campground provided a comfortable and beautiful glamping experience.   The main lodge provides a meeting place and dining area for all guests, and is full of delicious and freshly prepared meals, cold beers, and strong coffee.  I will never forget the views, pictures, and memories I left with.  Pancho and his crew made it easy for us so all we had to do was show up and they guided us through everything.  Anyone looking for a top tier fishing experience or a relaxing glamping getaway in Patagonia will surely love this package on Xenialand."
